let's begin at the beginning
Well, friends, here we are. At the beginning! Where should I start?
Blogging has always seemed so far-off to me. It was something that only super-cool folks got to do, because after all, who on earth would want to read anything I had to write? What could I possibly have to write about? What new items I found lost under the couch today? The steps to obtaining coronary angiography of the left anterior decending artery? How to completely derail your diet in seven minutes or less? Sure, these are things I've got expertise in, but who would want to read about that stuff, anyway? These days, it's all about how to contour yourself into a Kardashian, where to find the best vegan croissants, what's new with this summer's bikini trends, who's launching the hottest new gadget that can simultaneously start your car for you and change your baby's diaper. Things I know nothing about.
And yet, as God often chooses to do, He has been steadily speaking to me in a still, soft voice. Encouraging me to do this thing that I'd always wanted to try, but never really felt confident enough to attempt.
Over the past few months, I've had multiple friends ask me if I'd ever considered sharing my thoughts and experiences in a forum like this. And although my initial reaction was much similar to the dialogue above, something in their questioning made me think that maybe this was something I could be good at. Maybe I did have something to offer after all. Maybe, in between the striving, and the rushing, and the failing, and the laughing, and the dreaming...there was room to share with others and help them grow. And in turn, maybe help myself grow, too.
So, here we are. At the beginning of something that's a little scary for me, but also so exciting! It's my hope that through Joy in Small Doses, I can encourage you with just that -- little snippets and snapshots of the things in my life that bring me joy. I'm a woman with diverse passions; photography, home-making, food, medicine, faith, lettering, hospitality, marriage...just to name a few. My goal is to write on a variety of the things that bring me life and make me tick. I won't pretend for a moment that my day-to-day life and experiences are always thrilling, but I can promise that what I choose to share with you will always be from the heart.
Here's to the beginning of something I hope will be lovely, honest, encouraging, and maybe even funny enough at times to make you pee a little. Don't lie, you know it happens.
Stay tuned for more posts coming just around the corner, my friends!
Until next time,
Mrs. P
